Course Profile: Client Based Risk Assessment (1-day)

This course defines the aims of risk assessment, identifies different levels of risk, and reinforces the need to accompany this work with risk management plans, and contingency plans. Participants explore risk from the perspective of the staff and the client, and consider the use of choice and informed choice. Professional terminology is introduced and ‘unpacked’, and attention is paid to the legislative structure of Supporting People and its Quality Assessment Framework (QAF), obligatory since April 2004. This course usually incorporates an introduction to organizational policies and procedures, which are then brought to life via case studies. Risk and mental health, confidentiality, and the reality of managing rather than eliminating risk are all featured.
