Course profile: Office Health & Safety (Half day)

 

Current legislation demands that staff be aware and conversant with Health and Safety duties and responsibilities. This course affords you the opportunity to have this subject explored in an interesting and unusually lively fashion. This course is suitable for any member of staff who works primarily in an office based setting.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this training the learner should be able to:

  • Summarise their role and responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and other relevant pieces of Health &Safety legislation
  • Examine some basic principles of anatomy in order to establish the principles of good moving and handling technique, and how this can be applied on a practical basis
  • Identify a range of common hazards associated to working with Display Screen Equipment and develop a strategy for safe working practices

    • The Management of Health & Safety Regulations 1999
    • The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
    • Anatomy of back care – top heavy – vs – base movement
    • The principles of good moving and handling
    • The Display Screen Equipment Regulations 1992
    • Health hazards associated when working with computers
    • Preventing headaches, eyestrain and repetitive strain disorders
    • The Health & Safety (Workplace) Regulations 1992
    • Identifying environmental hazards
    • Preventing Slip/Trip/Falls
    • Safe working practices
