Course Profile: Introduction to Health & Safety

Current legislation demands that staff be aware and conversant with Health and Safety duties and responsibilities. This course affords you the opportunity to have this subject explored in an interesting and unusually lively fashion. Many of our course evaluations have stated that attendees did not believe it was possible to have such a subject delivered in such an enlightening and enjoyable way

Learning objectives:

By the end of this training the learner should be able to:

  • • Examine their role and responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and other relevant pieces of Health &Safety legislation
  • • Identify common accidents in the workplace and the importance of reporting and investigation.
  • • Identify hazards in their workplace and develop Risk Assessments appropriate to their area of work
  • • Examine where they believe current procedures or equipment to be inadequate and what possible solutions exist for changing these

    • The responsibilities of the company and managers.
    • The responsibilities of the employee.
    • RIDDOR 1995
    • Identification of work place hazards
    • The Management of Health & Safety Regulations 1999
    • European Directives and other relevant legislation
    • A practical approach to Risk Assessment
    • Basic Food Hygiene
    • COSHH
    • Safe working procedures
